The bridge over the Adda River was built in the 14th century by one of the most significant figures in the city at the time – Azzone Visconti. Initially, it had 8 arches, but a few years later, due to rising water levels, 2 more arches were added.
The bridge’s nighttime appearance, illuminated with the surrounding mountain ridges in the background, is truly spectacular. From the bridge, you can view the small fishing village, part of Lecco, Pescarenico, which is mentioned in the famous book “The Betrothed”.
